Windows 7 repair install freezes

What build like are you attempting to install? I had the same problem last week, tried to install windows7 but it freezed practicly when everything was installed.

This morning I remembered that I bought last month a new 22" lcd screen and plugged it in the computer with a hdmi to dvi cable. I replaced it with the standard blue vga cables that came with the screen and Windows 7 installed without any problems. I think that it does'nt have the drivers for hdmi. Well, it worked fine with me, if you have a dvi or hdmi cable, change it and try it again.

Hope it will work for you. Friday, August 7, AM. I tried it and it installs only with a regular VGA cable. Have a good weekend TiClin. Are you overclocking your cpu or the ram by any chance? What brand of ram do you have? You may need to set the timing and the voltage manaually. Cheers, Ahmed. During win7 installation, win7 does not install drivers for the graphics card, only at 1st boot does it do so.

Your weird setup may have caused some weird feedback loop or something because the graphics card didn't have its drivers installed yet.

It gets as far as starting windows with the colored balls and freezes. I am trying to install windows 7 pro on new hardware, and a blank Hard Drive. When I boot from the CD, it gets to the spinning balls that form the logo, but it just freezes up there and stops. I put the CD into another computer just to test, and it boots up right to install.

I used the Same DVD rom drive on both computers It's not an HP, its actually a Lenovo. Sounds like a potential bad HDD. Run some diagnostics on that or the actual optical drive.

Try it in an external DVD drive and see if it does the same thing. Some DVD drives cause issues. Had one that would power but wouldn't read discs and if a disc was in the drive when it booted, it just hung at POST. I know the computer works because it was running windows 8 just fine, but we have to run windows 7 here.

So we have a full copy of windows 7 pro, and that's what won't install. I wiped the HDD just in case there was something on there blocking it too.
